What does a Superfood do for you?

There are many foods and diet-related fads around that you will be shocked at what lengths people go to for establishing different types of food products that they can call a ‘Superfood’.  In this post What does a Superfood do for you? we’ll take a brief look at the benefits of eating superfoods and list a few that are now considered to be of that status ‘Superfood’ quality.

Eating superfoods can give your diet a boost while reducing your risk of many health issues like heart disease, general weakness, memory loss, erectile dysfunction, and other problems. These super foods provide a big nutritional punch to your diet. Superfoods contain sources of vitamins, minerals, fiber, and other beneficial nutrients.

What are Superfoods?

Superfoods are food products — mostly plant-based but can also contain some fish and dairy, believed to be nutritionally dense and extremely beneficial to good health.  Foods like Garlic, blueberries, salmon, and acai are just a few common examples of foods that have been given the “superfood” label.

In reality, no one food no matter how ‘Super’ it becomes can independently improve one’s ailing health, a poor diet or stave off chronic illnesses.  Doctors and nutritionists agree that eating a range of colourful fruits, vegetables and maintaining a healthy diet with regular exercise is key to good health. One also need to limit sodium, saturated fat, and refined sugar intake.

That said superfoods can and do provide that boost in overall health if combined with good eating and fitness regime.
